Rio de Janeiro City Hall is preparing a mega-holiday during the G20 in November

The City Hall of Rio de Janeiro prepare a mega-holiday during the G20the meeting of the largest economies on the planet, marked to November 18th and 19th.

In order to reduce circulation in the city, the idea is to “hang” from the Proclamation of the Republic (15), which falls on a Friday, to Black Consciousness (20), on the following Wednesday. To this end, the 18th (Monday) and 19th (Tuesday) — when the heads of state will actually be in Rio — will be holidays.

The measure seeks to facilitate the movement of world leaders and their delegations, in addition to helping with the planning of the various parallel meetings that will take place during the event.

A decree with the measure will still be published in the Official Gazette.

The security and organizational structure of the G20 in Rio will be greater than the support set up during the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.

Rio de Janeiro will host the G20, an event that brings together the 19 largest economies in the world, the European Union and the African Union, which is participating in the meeting for the first time. 12 invited countries and 15 international organizations will also participate, such as the IMF and the World Bank.
