REP Festival 2024: Brazil's biggest rap festival will take place in April, at Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park

On April 20th and 21st, 2024, Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park, recognized for offering the best infrastructure in Brazil for holding major festivals, will become the epicenter of national rap with the fifth edition of the REP Festival. The country's biggest festival dedicated to celebrating rap, trap and funk promises to bring together up to 50,000 people per day, in a vibrant demonstration of the strength and popularity of the fastest growing musical genre in the country.

The pre-sale will start on January 30th, at noon, and close on February 8th, through the platform Join. The Olympic Park will host the 4 stages of the REP Festival 2024, with simultaneous programming, one of them exclusively dedicated to unprecedented meetings between artists. There will be dozens of shows by big names in rap, trap and funk from different generations.

Since its debut in 2019, the REP Festival has solidified itself as a crucial event to strengthen the rap movement in Brazil. In 2022, it held a historic edition, with more than 70 thousand people at Parque dos Atletas.

Now, being held at the Olympic Park reinforces the greatness of the festival, a pioneer in raising the flag for national rap and boosting an industry that, in addition to the artists on stage, employs thousands of people in the country.

In 2024, the festival returns after a last edition impacted by heavy rains – a reflection of the climate emergency that has affected several outdoor events and festivals around the world. In the 2023 edition, the public who had tickets for the day the program was canceled (Sunday) were refunded. Those who had tickets for the first day, Saturday, will have a discount in 2024, due to the difficulties caused by the rain. And those who purchased a passport for Saturday and Sunday in the last edition are being offered tickets for one of the two days of their choice this year.

Team REP Festival gains reinforcements from MV Bill and William Reis

MV Bill

In this edition, the festival is strengthened with the arrival of two important names in leadership positions: MV Bill, national rap icon, takes on the role of cultural director, bringing his unique knowledge and experience in the movement, as well as a keen eye for reality of the artists and the public, who form the foundation of the scene. At the same time, William Reis, who served as executive coordinator of Afroreggae, internationally recognized for his work as an activist and social entrepreneur, assumes the ESG direction of the event, promising management with social and environmental responsibility.

Whether on the national or international stage, Rap has evolved from a niche segment to become a comprehensive cultural movement. Today, it influences trends in fashion, behavior and consumption, occupying prominent positions on the main music platforms. Originating on the streets of New York in the 1970s, rap goes beyond the fastest growing musical genre in the world. Now, their culture is celebrated in a festival exclusively dedicated to it, which honors the artists who are in the history and at the forefront of this movement.
