Ipanema Beach (RJ) is voted 2nd most beautiful in the world in an American ranking

Lonely Planet, publisher of US travel guides, launched a book with 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. In second place in the ranking appears Ipanema Beach, in Rio de Janeiro. It is described by Lonely Planet as “famous for some amazing sunsets that locals often applaud.”

The publication also highlights other characteristics of the place, such as Porto 9, known for being the “meeting point for the fashion public, attracting young people, alongside artists and hippies. Praia Farme, located in front of Rua Farme de Amoedo, is where the LGBTQIA+ community gathers. Posto 8 is where the favela's children gather. Between Ipanema and Copacabana, Posto 7 is frequented by surfers, and Posto 10 is where volleyball, football and footvolley matches take place.”
