Free internet: Rio de Janeiro beaches gain Orla Rio Wi-Fi network

Cariocas no longer need to use mobile networks in beaches of Rio de Janeiro. A Orla Rio announced a network Free Wi-Fi in more than 60 kiosks located in the South Zone of the city. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the concessionaire and the Muzika Group, responsible for the Skyfii user management solution.

The new feature facilitates internet access on city beaches. According to a publication on the Orla Rio website, the operation is available from July and will bring the connection to visitors and residents. Initially, the project will be available on the extension that connects Forte do Leme to Forte de Copacabana, in the South Zone.

Initially, the platform will be available in 32 two bases, covering 64 kiosks on the beaches of Copacabana and Leme. To use it, simply connect to the “#Orla Rio#” network. Before taking advantage of the connection, users will have to complete an initial registration to guarantee access to the internet at no cost.

Orla Rio expects 15 thousand simultaneous accesses to the beaches

The kiosk concessionaire's bet is big. According to Orla Rio, it is estimated that the network will receive around 15 thousand simultaneous accesses and will provide approximately 1 TB of internet daily. The project should serve 2 million people who travel along the shores of Leme and Copacabana beaches.

The structure was also guaranteed thanks to an approach between Orla Rio and Grupo Muzika. Through this partnership, the concessionaire gained access to software Skyfii, which will be responsible for user management.

“We increasingly seek to provide high-quality infrastructure combined with unique experiences on the waterfront for tourists and locals, including through activations and experiences phygital – that unite the physical with the digital”, said João Marcello Barreto, president of Orla Rio.

Free internet will be taken to other beaches in RJ

Initially, the project will only be available on two beaches in Rio's South Zone: Copacabana and Leme. But Orla Rio is already preparing to take the service to other places. This is what the president of the dealership says:

“The implementation of free internet initially in Copacabana and in the future expanding to Recreio will add even more, offering more possibilities to all visitors”, he said.

Orla Rio will also take advantage of the project to offer exclusive content with information and news about the kiosks and waterfronts. The initiative also aims to distribute special promotions to registered users.
