Night of celebration and awards for the Rio de Janeiro hotel industry

Top Hotel RJ Award had record number of entries in 2023

The night of the 29th was a celebration for the Rio hotel industry, with the traditional end of year party, promoted by ABIH-RJ and HotéisRIO. The Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana hotel hosted the meeting, which marked the awarding of the Top Hotel RJ 2023 Award, an appreciation for good practices in accommodation in Rio de Janeiro.

In its 18th edition, Top Hotel RJ chose the best projects in four categories: social action, in honor of Corintho Falcão, banker, travel agent, businessman, lawyer, mill owner and hotelier; entrepreneurship, in honor of Eduardo Tapajós, hotelier, industrial chemist and lawyer; in addition to the “Green Hotel Seal” categories, with sustainability cases, and the “Hotel Expansion” honor, which highlights the best expansion or retrofit projects.

This year, the award registered a record number of participants: there were 19 entries for projects from 16 hotel projects, with the participation of four hotels in the interior. The outstanding projects were chosen by a team of judges with industry experts.

The big stars of the night were the award-winning hotels: Hilton Copacabana (1st place) and Fairmont Rio de Janeiro (2nd place) in the Social Action category; Casa Hotel Fazenda Santa Bárbara (1st place) and Le Canton (2nd place), awarded in the Entrepreneurship category; and Container Eco Suítes (1st place) and Grupo Arpoador (2nd place), winners in the Green Seal category. The Hotel Windsor Leme was awarded, not honored in the Hotel Expansion category. All cases can be found in this special edition of the newsletter. Those elected took home a beautiful trophy made by the company Sobral Design.

There was no shortage of illustrious presences. With great prestige among Rio's trade, the event was attended by the president of the Chamber of Councilors, Carlo Caiado, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Gustavo Tutuca, as well as the Secretary of Tourism of the city of Rio, Daniela Maia, among others.

Delegate Patrícia Alemany was honored for her beautiful work at the head of the Specialized Tourist Assistance Police Station, an extensive tribute to her entire team who were present at the event, motivated by their quick and assertive action in the case of the false assault on the British team Airways, avoiding further damage to the image of Rio de Janeiro.

In his speech, the vice-president of HotéisRIO, José Domingo Bouzon, took stock of the main areas of activity in the hotel sector and trade in Rio de Janeiro for the development of the activity and called 2023 the year of consolidation, with a heated calendar of events and rates of occupancy with levels higher than those achieved in 2022. The president of ABIH-RJ, Paulo Michel, reinforced the sector's gratitude to the State Secretariat of Tourism for the promotion work that has been developed in partnership with players in the sector.

The two thanked all the competitors for their presence and highlighted the tireless work of the ABIH-RJ and HotéisRIO teams, who work hard daily to meet the diverse demands of members.
