The month of December is marked by the national skin cancer prevention campaign, promoted by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD), known as Orange December. Throughout the month, all employees at the 17 Windsor Hotels, in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília, are wearing the orange bow on their uniforms, which is the action symbol.

With the central message “Add more protection factors to your summer”, the campaign includes recommendations for preventing skin cancer, including the use of sunglasses, blouses with UV protection, caps or hats; sunscreen with SPF equal to or greater than 30, reapplying every two hours or whenever there is contact with water. And, whenever possible, avoid exposure to the sun between 9 am and 4 pm.

Based on the material prepared by SBD, the Windsor Network has promoted the topic on its social networks. Employees and guests have also been impacted by the action through internal digital channels in the units.

According to SBD, skin cancer is the most common type of disease in Brazil, with around 180,000 new cases per year. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common in the population, corresponding to approximately 70% of cases. When the disease is discovered early, it has more than a 90% chance of cure.
